We all have pet peeves that can really annoy us or push our buttons. Some pet peeves of mine are when people bite their nails, they call out in class, make jokes that aren’t funny, chew on their gum really loudly and whine about doing their work. But my biggest pet peeve of them all is when kids in school constantly click their pens.
One time, I was in class taking notes. In between the slides for the notes the teacher would talk to us. So when he did that, eveyone would click their pens non-stop. Clearly, they were bored. But they were also interrupting the teacher.
That bugged me beyond belief. My teacher would have to stop right in the middle of the lecture, scream at my class and then continue on. It was so annoying.
Over the years I have began to realize that pen clicking is something EVERYONE does involuntarily. While kids stare at the clock, watching the second hand tick away, they accompany it with the clicking of their stupid pens! It distracts me from listening to the teacher, causing me to miss something important that the teacher might have said.
They should just do away with these clicking pens. That way, students won’t be tempted to click, click, click to the tick, tick, tick of the clock.

I agree with you 100%. Pen clicking, people shaking their leg at 100 miles per hour…I actually move around trying to distance myself from habitual offenders but it usually doesn’t work out, as I find a new annoying pen clicker regardless of where I am seated!
