The September issue; the biggest and most talked about issue for all major fashion magazines in which they showcase the upcoming fall and winter  trends.I have flipped through some of the top fashion glossies and compiled the major up and coming trends for the fall and winter seasons.

From Elle and GQ, to W and the iconic 758-page September Vogue (you need to see the movie), here is what all the top fashion editors, designers, and yours truly want to see you wearing once the summer sets: Color Blocking: Stack on the solid colors like it’s no one’s business.
Color is taking the nation by storm and is finally breaking us away from our must-wear-black stigma. I would even go as far as to say that color blocking will define the 2011-2012 school year. You can never go wrong with colored jeans and t-shirts. Stick with bright colors that compliment each other, and don’t be afraid to take some risks by accessorising or painting your nails.

Prints: Patterns and prints are back this fall so try and find loud and in-your-face clothes. For example, be on the lookout for interesting patterns, animal prints and sequins.

Varsity: Sporty varsity jackets are going to be the next big thing. They are extremely easy to wear since you can wear them with a lot of different fabrics, so run wild with the styling. Varsity jackets usually run for a pretty penny, but Forever 21 has a few selections that won’t break the bank.

Past Decade Style: Apparently, dressing like it’s 1999 will be completely acceptable this season. Look all the way to the beginning of the twentieth century or even earlier for style inspiration. You can bring back anything from A-line skirts from the 40’s and poodle skirts and leather jackets from the 50’s to go-go boots from the 60’s and flare jeans from the 70’s. And don’t forget about 80’s neon and 90’s simple and chic shapes.
